War Buddies Forever

th

Saturday night I went out dancing with some of my divorce group friends.  Rose, who left her husband after 20 years and 4 kids, when he started dating – while married.  Barbara, who left hers after 18 years of dry, dull, separatist marriage, Ken, who separated after ongoing hostility due to extremely diverse cultural backgrounds, Manny, who’s hot but not the brightest bulb in the room. We danced and laugh, and will never leave each other. Barbara just planned to  pack her house to move, and after texted us a distress message, 17 of us showed up on the spot.  Despite our oddities, despite how we’d never ever pick ourselves as friends under normal life.  When it was over, she said, “my old friends never would have done this – well at least most of them.”
